Had to replace the washing machine and when I went to shut off the water, the valve / tap was leaking. So this is my first time attempting to replace these pipe fittings and soldering copper fittings. I used a tubing cutter and a mini tubing cutter,mapp gas torch(already had it), solder and flux from home depot. Washing machine shut off valve replacement.. This is the cold water line but all they sell was valves with red handles. i'm sure I may have used too much solder but so far there has been no leaks so that is good. So far there has been no leaks. I probably should have practiced on some cut copper pipe fittings first but only thought about that after :) I would guess this basically applies to most any kind if plumbing, pipe repair,replacement, you would find in a house
