Budget Ribbon Microphone Shootout This video clip demonstrates the sonic characteristics of four different microphones, three of which are Australian ribbon microphones. A classic condenser microphone, the Neumann U87, is included as an ear refresher. All mics were level matched and recorded through a Focusrite OctoPre preamp at 24bit 441Khz. Microphones were positioned 1.2 meters from the ground and 2.0 meters from the drum kit. No equalization, compression or additional close microphones were used.
