1976 Triumph TR6

View this vehicle on our website for a complete description, price, and many photos. This handsome 1976 Triumph TR6 has been fully restored to show quality standards throughout. This example is one of the best TR6 models ever offered from the MS CLASSIC CARS Collection. The Triumph TR6 is a sports car built by The Triumph Motor Company of Coventry, England. While production began several months earlier, the TR6 was officially introduced in January as a 1969 model year vehicle. The last TR6 was produced on the July 20th, 1976. Of the 91,850 TR6s produced, 83,480 were exported, almost all of them to the United States. As the Commission Number tag indicates this example was built in July 1976 and was the 138th to the last TR6 ever built. It left the factory with a Russet Brown (code 93) exterior and a Tan vinyl (code 74) interior. As documented with a copy of a Nebraska title that's included, this car was owned from 2006 to 2018 by a classic car collector who owned a new car dealership in Omaha, NE. This car was the product of a no-expense spared restoration which is evident of the overall condition throughout. From the information gathered the restoration was completed around 2015. The exterior styling of the body of the TR6 was done by Karmann of Germany and the construction was traditional body-on-frame. From the information gathered it appears to retain all the original factory sheet metal. The overall body of this example is very straight with excellent gap lines throughout. The hood, doors and trunk lid close very nicely. The body was re-finished in its original color of Russet Brown which looks classy. The show quality paint was recently detailed to a brilliant shine. It was outfitted with a new black soft top that fits very nicely. A black vinyl tonneau cover and two convertible boot covers are included. The front windshield and door glass was replaced new. During the restoration process everything on the exterior was restored or replaced such as rubber seals, wipers, driver's side mirror, front grill, headlight bezel, Wagner headlights, chrome front bumper with rubber guards, parking lights, door handles, rocker moldings, gas cap, tail lights, chrome rear bumper with rubber guards, emblems and decals. The car rolls on 15x6 steel wheels that are decorated with chrome trim rings and red TR6 center caps. The wheels are wrapped with brand new Coker Classic Redline 185-15 tires. The sporty interior is surprising spacious and very comfortable. The tan color contrasts with the exterior color perfectly. During the restoration process everything in the interior was restored or replaced such as the rear view mirror, dash pad, Smiths gauges, heating controls, steering column, three-spoke leather wrapped steering wheel, shifter, door handles, window cranks, seat belts and carpeting. The bucket seats are upholstered in tan vinyl with perforated inserts and joined by color-coordinated door panels. Wood veneer accents the dashboard and a radio blanking plate is fitted. The trunk compartment was restored and painted. It was outfitted with new panels and carpeting. It's equipped with a Michelin Redline full size spare tire. The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout. It was restored and completely painted. All of the parts were restored or replaced during the process. The car is powered by a 2.5-liter inline 6 cylinder engine that runs excellent. The engine is equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors. The engine breathes through a Falcon stainless steel muffler and exhaust system. The engine is coupled to a 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The electrically switched overdrive made by Laycock de Normanville was available as an option. On early cars the “A-type” model overdrive was used and was able to be activated on second, third and fourth gears which provided a 22% gear ratio reduction. The later TR6s had a “J-type” model overdrive able to be activated only on third and fourth gears but with a 28% gear ratio reduction. The undercarriage is nicely detailed throughout. The underside and the frame were painted black. The inner fender wells were re-finished in textured body color paint for durability. During the restoration process everything was restored or replaced such as the fuel system, steering system, four-wheel independent suspension system and braking system which includes front disc brakes. Compare this example to all other TR6s that have sold or that are currently being advertised for sale and you'll see the difference in overall quality. This is a great opportunity.
