60 Years of the SOUTHERN AURORA Australia, A Drivers View!

Shot with 3 cameras over the course of a few hours while crewing this train from Albury to Benalla while it was down from Nsw rail heritage museum in joint partnership with Seymour rail heritage centre, as flooding in Nsw had blocked the original Alco locomotives that were meant to be on the train, so SRHS helped out with the T, P & S class locomotives. Myself and kev decided to get some footage, the rest was in the editing which has taken me some time in dribs and drabs, had lots of footage to go through and wanted to keep it short enough but long enough, not sure how I did but I'm a better videographer/photographer than I am an editor. 😬 The southern Aurora ran between Sydney and Melbourne from the early 60s to the mid 80s back then for some time, Locomotives were changed at the border for engines of that state, not the case anymore thankfully now all the states get the joy of seeing mixed locomotives on any given train so that's a plus. Safety is always my priority, and all shots involve a mutual crew risk assessment to ensure the safety of myself, other crew members and members of the public. Train running is always comes first and I try and get what I can when I can and get enough to make something out of in the editing process.
