(24 Jun 2018) DUKE OF CAMBRIDGE RECEIVED BY JORDANIAN CROWN PRINCE IN AMMAN Britain's Prince William arived in Amman on Sunday at the outset of a politically delicate five-day tour of Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian territories. During the visit the prince is due to meet with young people and refugees in a tumultuous region shaped decisively by almost three decades of British control. Prince William was greeted at Marka military airport by Jordan's Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II, a member of the Hashemite dynasty Britain installed in then-Transjordan almost a century ago. William will visit a technology incubator for young Jordanians, tour a vocational training college with links to Britain's Middlesex University and meet Syrian refugee children. On Monday evening, the prince leaves for Jerusalem for the first-ever official visit by a member of the monarchy to Israel and the Palestinian territories. Though billed as non-political, it's a high-profile foreign visit for the 36-year-old William, second in line to the throne.
