So far, this Mt. Irid climb has been my longest, farthest, highest, wettest, muddiest, most challenging climb for the year. 23 kilometers spread over 16.5 hours, 1,900-meter elevation gain, 18 river crossings (some of them very very scary), and sour weather all throughout. But still grateful for the opportunity to go outside and end my 2020 with a great workout. Second time in Mt. Irid, but first time to assault its 1,447-meter summit. Also the first time that I got to appreciate Kinabuan Falls. The jump-off to Mt. Irid is located in Sta. Ines, Tanay, Rizal, which can only be accessed by 4x4 jeepneys with large wheels as the journey requires a number of river crossings. Upon arriving in Sta. Ines, there are still 9 river crossings until you arrive at Sitio Sadlak, which is the designated campsite. From there, the summit is just shy over 3 hours one way.
