RhB Winterdampf - Part 6 - Day 2 from Zernez to Samedan

The RhB Winterdampf Excursion is coming to an end. Part 6 shows scenes from March 19th. The day’s excursion continues from Zernez with a steam train pulled by G 4/5 #108 Engiadina upgrade to Samedan. At the same time, a mixed train pulled by G 3/4 Heidi is running to Samedan. Twice, the two trains overtake each other between Zernez and Samedan. The steam excursion concludes with a parallel entrance into Samedan station. The passengers are then brought back to Chur with a historic train pulled by an electric Ge 6/6' engine over the Albula line. The movie concludes with the scene when the train is passing Landwasser viaduct. On March 18 and 19, 2017, Steam Adventure Tours and Club 1889 organized a two-day steam train excursion (“RhB Winterdampf”) to the Engadin. The excursion began on March 18 in Landquart where a doubleheader (2 G 4/5 narrow gauge steam engines) took our train to Thusis. In Thusis, a third engine joined the train (a G 3/4) and the tripleheader took our train over the Albula Line to Samedan. On March 19, we rode with a shorter train, pulled by just one G4/5 first to Pontresina to watch a presentation of historic and modern RhB (Rhätische Bahn) engines and snow removal equipment. Later that day, we run to Zernez and from their back to Samedan. Behind us, a short mixed train pulled by the G 3/4 followed us to Zernez and back. On the way back from Zernez to Samedan, the two steam trains passed each other several times. The trip concluded with our train running back to Chur, this time pulled by a historic Ge 6/6' and thereafter, with a standard gauge special train pulled by a BDe 4/4 historic motor coach to Zurich. Despite the not so great weather, it was a very enjoyable steam excursion which was perfectly organized by Club 1889, Steam Adventure Tours and RhB.
