SkyCity unveils smaller convention centre plan

Economic Development Minister Steven Joyce and SkyCity CEO Nigel Morrison have this morning given an update on the planned SkyCity convention centre. A new design was requested after the cost of the previous plan blew out to $130 million above estimates. Tony Field was at SkyCity for the announcement and joined Paul Henry this morning. "SkyCity’s Nigel Morrison says it is a slightly smaller-scale design but he is delighted with it. It retains all the key aspects of the original design. The floor space will be 32,000 square metres. The original plan was 38,000 square metres. It will be able to host 3150 people for a single conference." Watch the full report with Tony Field.
