My third trip with the band to California, the first two having been in 2005 and 2006. This time we just did two gigs - first a warm-up in Slim's club in San Francisco, then the main event, this big festival 200 miles northwards up the coast on the banks of the Eel river, nearby the giant redwood forest in Bigfoot country. It was the third and final day, and we were to close the evening to a crowd of around 10,000. Julian Marley was playing as we arrived late that afternoon, and we headlined the evening at dusk. Hospitality was warm according to Californian tradition, with first class catering. Backstage there was a plastic bath filled with ice and cans of beer and soft drinks, and a big bowl of California weed on a table in the middle of our tent dressing room. The crowd loved us and I met several female fans afterwards who were curious to know (amongst other things) where we came from (Germany, Sweden, USA, England). I really didn't want to go home the next morning...
