Patia / Pathia (British Indian Restaurant / BIR Style)

Patia (also spelt pathia) is a hot, sweet and sour dish with use of chillies and tamarind. It is based on a blend of tamarind and lemon/lime with jaggery to help the balance and chillies for heat Looking for my base free / from scratch version? It's here    • Chicken Patia / Pathia from scratch w...   In this video I make Chicken Tikka Patia. All my recipes can be found at https://thecurrykid.co.uk/ Ingredients 3 tablespoons vegetable oil 1 bay leaf 1/2 sliced onion brown/white 2 teaspoons garlic paste 1 teaspoons ginger paste 1 tablespoon tomato paste 1 teaspoon mix powder / curry powder 1 teaspoon chilli powder 1 teaspoon sugar 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon coriander powder 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder 250 millilitres curry base 1 tablespoon tamarind sauce (I use Maggi) 1 tablespoon mango chutney smooth 1 teaspoon lemon 1/4 cup coriander fresh/chopped 1 teaspoon fenugreek leaves kasoori methi Method 1. Start by heating the oil on medium add the bay leaf and onions and fry gently until the onions start to turn golden 2. Add the garlic and ginger and fry for 1 minute, the link to my home-made garlic ginger paste is popping up now 3. Add the mix powder, chilli, sugar, salt, cumin and coriander, tamarind and tomato paste and fry for 1-2 minutes. If it starts to burn or look too dry add a little bit of the base gravy 4. Add half of the hot base and stir through well. Cook for a further minute or two then stir in the rest of the base gravy. 5. Simmer for a minute then add the mango chutney and lemon juice, stir in well 6. Add your choice of meat and coat to stop it drying out and continue to simmer 7. Finally add the methi and ½ of the chopped coriander, continue to simmer gently until the meat is cooked and the sauce is the thickness you require stirring occasionally if it looks like it’s about to burn If you recreate this recipe, please share on Instagram, Twitter or FaceBook or even comment under the recipe on my website at www.thecurrykid.co.uk More dishes ## All my videos can be found at:    • All Recipes   All my recipes can be found at https://thecurrykid.co.uk/ Follow Me ## Website: https://www.thecurrykid.co.uk Instagram:   / the_curry_kid   Twitter:   / thecurrykid   Facebook:   / thecurrykiduk   #patia #pathia #tamarind #chickentikkapatia #chickenpatia #13yearsoldchef #bir #homemade #indianfood #madefromscratch ############################################ If you like this recipe, please like, comment and subscribe # ############################################ More dishes ## All my videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...
