Now for today’s insight: When the hostilities build up around you it is sometimes difficult to see how it can get any better. You can feel as though your life is just one tower moment after another; your foundations constantly being shaken, which will lead to an inability to see any solutions in front of you. When we get in a highly emotional state like this, our IQ drops 15 points. What does this mean? It means that we are now mentally not going to make the best decisions because we are no longer operating under our normal thinking circumstances. We literally are slower to receive, absorb, and simulate information in order for us to make a good decision. In this state, we aren’t open to solutions because we are most likely not able to see them. If you are in a negative state of being you can counterbalance this by forcing yourself to verbally recall great moments in your life. It’s important to vocalize them because it slows you down, slowing your breath, and creates the opportunity for your brain to bring you back to yourself as the chemicals released that dropped your IQ start to dissipate. These recalls of joy bring you back to that emotional state as you replay the memories. The joy factor is the perfect antidote to the negative state blocking you from seeing the solutions in your midst.
