Yamuna Expressway: Toll Rates To Rise By 12 Percent, Here's What You’ll Pay Now

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has announced a toll rate increase of up to 12 percent for the 165-kilometer stretch between Greater Noida and Agra, effective October 1. Since the expressway's opening in 2012, the Uttar Pradesh government approved annual toll hikes until 2015, after which YEIDA took over managing increases. This recent decision was made during a YEIDA board meeting to enable the toll operator to collect approximately Rs 1 crore daily. The Suraksha Group, which now oversees toll operations after acquiring the struggling Jaypee Infratech Limited, has requested a toll hike for three years. YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh stated that the increase is essential to fulfill commitments to the Suraksha Group, which plans to revive stalled Jaypee apartments, contingent on the annual toll hike.
