Today we shared sacred space with incredibly wise tama’ita’i Samoa. I won’t go into detail about what was said, but I will take this moment to be real and vulnerable because today’s conversations allowed me to be just that 🫶🏽 so enough of my professional, formal captions AND photos weh 😅😂 As I’ve stepped into the role of Miss Samoa USA, my life has changed dramatically. I’ve said it before and I’ll said it again, I’m not used to being dolled up (shout out to my fellow tomboys out there 🫶🏽😂). Don’t get me wrong—I am extremely grateful, but this is a new experience that pushes me far beyond my comfort zone. As I have attempted to fulfill this calling, I have felt all the negativity and inadequacy. But today I let that weight go 🤍 I may not speak Samoan fluently, but that does not make me any less Samoan. “Your blood makes you Samoan. But what you know and what is in your heart makes you PROUD to be Samoan.” - @kegisapeata I am PROUD to be a tama’ita’i Samoa. I am PROUD to represent our Samoan diaspora from America. It is in my heart to serve my people, and because of that, I know I have a role here.
