17 Minutes of Improvised Music | Solo Piano | UNEDITED

#piano #solopiano #improvisation This is the "second set" of an hour or so of improvised music that I recorded on Friday, July 18, 2024. (Here is the first set:    • 20 Minutes of Improvised Ideas | Solo...  ) No plans, just playing music! I let my hands start and then my ears and heart guide the way. Sometimes I am surprised by what happens! Often I am trying to remember little motivic ideas that I play so I can refer to them later or shape them into a larger idea. I start off with an improvisation in Bb that had a similar character to "Joy in Eb" from the previous "set". So I'm calling it "Joy in Bb". At 2:40 is an improvisation in A minor. This is a great example of letting something happen and then turning it into a form on the fly. I started with a typical descending bass line pattern, but then when I went to repeat it, a different descending bass line emerged. So I decided to use the first and second pattern together as a sort of formal structure. Then I improvised an ending with my only concept being: do something different. At 5:16 I start messing around with a chord progression that I know and love, trying to find something new and different to do with it. At 9:58, I finally get there! 11:09 is a scene change and something completely different where I just let my hands lead the way. At 12:58 I start a new idea in D major and find my way into what I'm calling "Spanish Dancer" at 15:20. Thanks for listening! xx
