La Seine Musicale is one of the flagship projects of the Hauts-de-Seine Valley of Culture. It is a project like none other in France or Europe, and was designed to achieve, beyond the Hauts-de-Seine, national and international reach. MUSICALE98“La Seine Musicale will be the gateway to the Valley of Culture”, explained Patrick Devedjian, MP and President of the Hauts-de-Seine Department. La Seine Musicale, the figurehead of Isle Seguin, designed by Shigeru Ban and Jean de Gastines, was developed with respect for the site and its industrial past. Owing to its geographical location and the beauty of its architecture, it captures, on its own, the public from the neighbouring towns or Paris, enticing them as much with its great variety of programming as its exceptional setting: a protec-ted island, and a haven of peace. It offers a stirring aesthetic that nonetheless complies with constraints that are both acoustic and ecological. Its curves embrace the shape of the island’s downstream tip. La Seine Musicale plays on the reflections of the water: with its Auditorium set on the Seine, its wooden hull seems to be afloat on the river itself. A large sail adorned with more than 1,000 m2 of photovoltaic solar panels, rotating around the wooden mesh, follows the course of the sun. The Auditorium and its sail give the project a unique identity. Opened in 2017, its architectural project weds form with substance. La Seine Musicale is open on the world, and a place where all the musical genres can be found. INSIDE LA SEINE MUSICALE La Seine Musicale est composée de deux salles de spectacles :la Grande Seine et l’Auditorium. La Seine Musicale is made up of two performance halls: La Grande Seine and the Auditorium. L’Auditorium can accommodate 1152 people and La Grande Seine can accommodate 2500 to 6900 people.
