LAUTERBRUNNEN: Lauterbrunnen is perhaps the most beautiful village in Switzerland. The very name ‘Lauter Brunnen’ (‘many fountains’) suggests the magnificence of this landscape. Located at the entrance of a spectacular valley, it is also known as the waterfalls village as it has 72 waterfalls that look absolutely gorgeous. The most famous being the Staubbach Falls, plunging almost 450 metres from an overhanging rock face, it is one of the highest free-falling waterfalls in Europe. Lauterbrunnen is ideal for hiking and as a starting point for numerous day trips. If you are treating yourself to an overnight stay, you will awake to the sound of one of the 72 waterfalls. It's a starting point for day trips to the Alps. It's a meeting point for mountaineers and hikers. Some Highlights of Lauterbrunnen region: Staubach Falls, Trümmelbach Falls, BOBBIN Room, Beautiful village, UNESCO Theme Trails etc. Trümmelbach Fall - another deafening natural phenomenon in the ‘Black Monk’ mountain, hidden behind mighty rock faces. Up to 20,000 litres of water per second cascade over the ten glacier falls from a total height of about 200 metres. This spectacle can only be reached in summer by tunnel lift. WENGEN: This picture-postcard car-free mountain village (with its nostalgic timber houses, the many dispersed holiday chalets and hotels dating from the belle époque period) lies on a wind-protected sun terrace at the foot of the Jungfrau, 400 metres above the Lauterbrunnen valley at an altitude of 1274 m. Since 1893, car-free Wengen has been able to be reached from Lauterbrunnen via the Wengernalp railway; cars remain parked in Lauterbrunnen. The key excursion destinations within the Jungfrau region can all be reached easily from Wengen. Climbers on the Eiger north face – one of the world’s most spectacular and difficult climbing faces – can be observed by telescope from the Kleine Scheidegg. Provided you change trains on the Kleine Scheidegg, the Jungfraujoch can even be reached by railway. KLEINE SHEIDEGG: It is a mountain pass at an elevation of 2,061 m (6,762 ft), situated below and between the Eiger and Lauberhorn peaks in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. The pass is traversed by a walking trail and the Wengernalp Railway, which both connect the villages of Grindelwald with Lauterbrunnen, passing through Wengen between the pass summit and Lauterbrunnen. From Interlaken Ost train station, one can reach Kleine Scheidegg in an hour and 15 minutes via Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald. On the way to the Kleine Scheidegg you pass through Alpine villages, meadows and forests as you approach the mighty glaciers of the Bernese Oberland. The Kleine Scheidegg is known for its stunning views of 3 Mountain Peaks - the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau as well as its mighty glaciers.
