RIO x Katsumi Sakakura | Special Collaboration Performance | Rio Saito | TEDxTokyo

Special collaboration performance spontaneously created between. Katsumi Sakakura and RIO. RIO plays the ukelele and Sakakura improvised dance to RIO's music to express “Cool Japan” together! Rio a 19-years-old ukulele prodigy has shown great promise with his musical skills and abilities. Having performed at venues throughout Asia, U.S.A., Europe, and all around the world. He captured 1st place at Amateur Night at Apollo Theater in New York City, ukulele contests in Hawaii and received the Award of Excellence at the Diner's Club Social Jazz Session in 2013-14. He has also performed at TEDxYouth@Tokyo, Teachers, TohokuUniversity and TEDxTokyo 2014. He released his first full album in 2015, filled with “RIO Music” along with original songs and got nominated for the “39th Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards” in 2016 as an International Album of the Year category. In 2018 and 2020, RIO has joined the NAMM as a KAMAKA's endorsed artist. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
