Cottagecore DIY Home Decor Thrift Flip | Upcycled French Country | Shabby Chic | Faux Concrete

Cottagecore Decor Thrift Flip | 1990s Tuscany Home upcycled to French Country | Faux concrete DIY We were given these French Country roosters by a homeowner who was selling their home and no longer wanted them. We've seen a lot of thrift flip videos on creating the DIY faux concrete look using baking soda and chalk paint. Salt wash and chalk paint has also been an alternative to get the textured look that we wanted in this thrift store cottagecore decor style makeover. What I decided to do, instead, was use Redesign with Prima's chalk paste to create the texture and underneath color that I wanted. This meant I didn't have to work with any crazy mixtures. I could just open the jar and start painting my upcycled ceramic rooster. I knew that I also wanted that chippy distressed look, that can really only be obtained by using milk paint. I've been carrying Miss Mustard Seed milk paint for years. It's one of my favorite finishes due to its authentic chippiness. After the chippy was achieved, I waxed and then added some of DIY's decrepit dust to make the rooster look like it had been sitting somewhere for years, with dust accumulating in the nooks and crannies over time. I personally love the effect! What do you think?
