කොසොල් රජතුමා දුටු සිහින 16 සහ එහි තේරුම් - එදා බුදුන් වහන්සේ දෙසූ දේ අද ඇස් පනාපිටම - The sixteen dreams of King Pasenadi The sixteen ominous dreams experienced by King Pasenadi of Kosala are highly significant in Buddhist literature. These dreams were interpreted by Gautama Buddha and serve as a reminder of the impermanence of life and the nature of suffering. The dreams and their interpretations are as follows: 1 - Four strong oxen from different directions are about to fight but retreat instead, indicating that when bad people lead, they bring trouble and hardship to the people. 2 - Young plants bear fruits, indicating that when people have a short lifespan, young people marry and have children, even when they are not ready for the responsibility. 3 - A female cow feeds on her own child's milk, indicating that when people stop respecting their elders, parents will have to live with their children, as they have no one else to rely on. 4 - A farmer uses young cows for transportation and abandons strong ones, indicating that when inexperienced people are hired for certain jobs, especially those that require judgment, they quit the job, and the elderly no longer apply for their previous positions, leading to the demise of the country. 5 - A horse with two heads eats from two different containers instead of eating together, indicating that evil judges will take bribes from both the defendant and jurors, resulting in unjust decisions. 6 - People encourage a wolf to urinate on a golden cup, indicating that good people will not be respected or praised, and so they will have to make friends with bad people to maintain their reputation. 7 - A man makes threads and places them near his legs, but a hungry, female wolf tries to eat the thread without letting him know, indicating that women will spend the money their husbands have earned without informing them. 8 - A large pot overflows, and people pour water only into the large pot, ignoring the smaller pots, indicating that people will experience poverty due to their evil leaders, forcing them to work hard for their leaders and not for their families. 9 - Animals drink from a large lake polluted around the center and clean around the edge, indicating that future leaders will not be sympathetic to their citizens and will force them to pay a lot of taxes, leading them to move to the countryside. 10 - Rice is cooked in a single pot, with some portions overcooked, undercooked, and some cooked correctly, indicating that it will not rain properly, destroying certain crops and resulting in crops of different qualities, even if they are grown in the same field. 11 - A man buys a valuable ruby with a liquid, indicating that people will spread Buddha's teachings, asking for donations and spending the money for their own benefit, equivalent to buying the teachings with a small amount of money. 12 - Dried gourds that usually float on water sink, indicating that wicked people will get the duties of leading a country, and people will start to believe in them. 13 - A large rock floats in water, indicating that when bad people rule, good people are unable to make strong statements in arguments, and so they are no longer appreciated. 14 - A female frog tries to eat a large cobra, indicating that men would marry younger spouses and give them whatever they want, but the spouses will scold them for lacking decision-making skills in certain cases. 15 - A crow is surrounded by golden Hamsas, indicating that in the future, only people with bad characteristics will become leaders, leaving good people with no one to rely on but them. 16 - Goats feed on cheetahs, causing them to run in fear when they see goats, indicating that even the strongest and most powerful will be humbled by the weakest in the face of adversity.
