[Today, the Serbs in Vienna are the largest ethnic minority group in Vienna. The 1st wave of Serbs to Austria began in the early 19th century. ] To that end, at his 1st benefit concert (ball) in Dommayer’s Casino on January 22, 1845, the 19-year-old Johann Strauss II presented his tactically-entitled: “Groβe Serbischer Nationalmarsch (Great Serbian National March セルビア国民大行進曲)” and ”Die jungen Wiener (THE Young “minority” Viennese ウィーンの”少数民族”の若人) Walzer Op. 7”. In addition, three (3) more “original” pieces were also presented: “Amazonen Polka op.9 https://zz123.com/en/play/aazzvaz.htm , “Aniela-Mazurka” (unpublished and lost) and “Elfen (Elves) Quadrille op.16”.    • Johann Strauss Op.16 Elfen-Quadrille ...   The 1st theme of the Trio B of “Groβe Serbischer Nationalmarsch (Great Serbian National March セルビア国民大行進曲)” features a popular Croatian folk song: “Tamburica sitnim glasom udarase (The tambourine strikes with a small voice)”.    • Tamburica Sitnim Glasom Udaraše   A year later Johann II used the same theme in the 4A of “Serben Quadrille op.14” (1.28.1846 Serbenball – Goldene Birn).    • Serben, Op. 14: Serben-Quadrille, Op. 14   2.5 years later Johann II used the theme of the Trio A of “Serbischer Marsch” in the 6B (Finale) of “Alexander Quadrille op.33 (Serben Quadrille Nr. 2) (6.16.1847 Serenade in Wien).    • Alexander-Quadrille, Op. 33   The Waltz 1 of “Die jungen Wiener (The Young Viennese ウィーンの若人) Walzer Op. 7” is written in the key of “E major”, which was the FATHER Strauss (Johann I)’s a favorite key (who wrote 29 (!!!!) Waltzes in this key, while Johann II wrote just 7 Waltzes in E major). The main difference between the 2 versions is in the Introduction. For the orchestral parts (2nd version) Johann II “deleted” 22 bars of the original Introduction!! Also, the double-8th notes ♫ in Bar 15 of the Waltz 3A are changed from “D-B” (1st version) to “B-C#” (2nd version).
