EXPLORING THE WAITANGI TREATY GROUNDS

Kia Ora tātou, welcome back to another vlog! ❤️ I genuinely think this has to be one of the most beautiful videos I've created, I almost can't get through it without tearing up. Just before I came to the UK I drove up to the Far North of New Zealand to explore the Waitangi Treaty grounds. The Treaty of Waitangi, or Te Tiriti o Waitangi was signed between the English and Māori (the indigenous people of Aotearoa, New Zealand). The treaty grounds allows you to learn about the most important event in New Zealand history and take a look at where it all started. Māori culture is integral to this country and this is how I want New Zealand to be represented on the world stage. I'm proud to be Māori and I hope this video helps illustrate the struggle Māori people have gone through in the face of colonisation over the last two centuries.
