Footage released on social media by Polish police showed rescue personnel evacuating local residents via helicopter in the flood-hit town of Ladek-Zdroj. Reuters was able to confirm the location of the video from characteristics of buildings, terrain, structures, and road layout seen in the video matched file and satellite imagery of the area. The date was verified from a statement by Polish Police which said 17 people were evacuated on Monday from flood affected areas. Border areas between the Czech Republic and Poland were hit hard over the weekend as heavy rain that has fallen since last week and surging water levels collapsed some bridges, forced evacuations and damaged cars and houses. Poland's government has announced a state of natural disaster in affected areas and said that it has set aside 1 billion zlotys ($260 million) to help victims.
