This year, the Ganda Boys were inspired to create a new song for the beautiful and talented Juliana Kanyomozi to sing. For those outside of Uganda and Kenya, Juliana is one of the bright stars of the music scene in East Africa, an incredibly soulful and gifted vocalist, who sings from her heart. She has won many awards and ranks up there with the world's great vocalists. Produced and arranged by Craig Pruess of the Ganda Boys, the song features the gorgeous strings of the Lithuanian State Chamber Orchestra and Luganda backing vocals by the Ganda Boys. This song is about something we each come to at some point in our lifespan: when you look back over your own life, do you feel that you have really achieved your dreams? or moved a little closer to the highest goals that you hold in your heart? Juliana takes this song and makes it hers. She performed her powerful lead vocal one afternoon in May 2014 — you can see the pictures of her in the studio — and in this video she speaks about her wish to sing songs about real life, stories and songs from the soul, not just for entertainment. In this case, art and the soulful cry for deep expression collided one month later when Juliana suddenly and tragically lost her only son, Kieron, only ten.
