One of our riding horses is grazing by the Lake Upper Nogaan-Khöl in the Altai Mountains of Western Mongolia (Tsengel sum, Bayan-Ulgii aimag). Mid-August 2024. There is a river flowing out of the glacier, then it becomes a lake, then goes -- as the river -- through narrow ravines and - at the lower altitude, again gathers into the lake (Lower) Nogaan-Khöl (Green Lake). After that it flows down the mountain as the River Khöldüg (River With Lake) which joins with the River Ak-Khem (White River) in the valley.
