"Isms" ft. Jon Boogz & Lil Buck | Cosa Nostra Strings

"ISMS" from "Love Heals All Wounds" Choreography by Jon Boogz and Lil' Buck Song "Trancendence" composed by Jason Yang Arranged for Cosa Nostra Strings by Shaina Evoniuk Cosa Nostra Strings: Shaina Evoniuk - Violin Keith Lawrence - Viola Lewis Patzner - Cello Adam Theis - bass Marlon Aldana - percussion Early this summer Cosa Nostra Strings got a call to travel to Guadalajara, Mexico to perform with dancers Lil Buck & Jon Boogz (if you don’t know them, look them up right now!). Needless to say, we were in! Despertares International Ballet Gala ended up being one of the most amazing weeks we've had all year! The Hernandez family, who are local to Guadalajara, have two sons, one is a principle dancer with The Royal Ballet in London, the other principal in the San Francisco Ballet. Their sister Emilia runs an organization they all started together, called Soul Arts Productions, and each year they put on this incredible Gala to expose the people of Mexico to ballet. They fly in the best dancers from all over the world, who perform in a 9,000-seat auditorium for all the locals. And what a show it was! We were lucky to be one of only two musical ensembles featured in the concert. I arranged Jason Yang’s beautiful composition “Transcendence” for Cosa, and we accompanied Lil Buck and Jon Boogz in a 10-minute excerpt of their touring show. The piece is about separation by borders and walls... not being able to connect... what happens to the soul... and how important connectivity and freedom are. It was a very potent and powerful way to open the show. We had a blast collaborating with these genius movement artists, and loved every moment of our time in Guadalajara. A big thank you to Isaac, Emilia and Esteban, and the whole Hernandez family for treating us so well and for the incredible work you do! http://www.jazzmafia.com   / thejazzmafia     / jazzmafia     / jazzmafiaofficial
