Body scan meditation is a mindfulness practice to help you arise in the present moment. It involves systematically focusing your attention on different parts of your body, from head to toe. During a body scan meditation, you typically start by finding a comfortable position, either lying down or sitting in a relaxed posture. Then, you begin to bring your awareness to each part of your body sequentially, usually starting from the top of your head and moving down to your toes or vice versa. As you focus on each body part, you observe any sensations you may be experiencing without trying to change them. You might notice areas of tension, warmth, tingling, or relaxation. The key is to simply acknowledge whatever sensations arise without judgment or attachment. Body scan meditation can help you cultivate mindfulness, improve your awareness of bodily sensations, and promote relaxation and stress reduction.
