We had the great good fortune to stay in the Dalai Lama's old room for almost 2 and a half months at Chamba Hotel at Thiksey Monastery in Ladakh, India. Not only was this a real upgrade from the usual tiny hotel rooms we have lived in for 12 years, but the fact that His Holiness had stayed overnight in this room (for 4 nights) is an incredible blessing. Thiksey Monastery just built a gorgeous new structure to house visiting Rinpoches and HHDL, which is why this room had been absorbed back into Chamba Hotel. We had actually taken our guests to tour this room many times before it was "decommissioned," so to speak. It is actually a 2-room suite and includes a small private kitchen and a secondary bathroom. Thank you to Chamba Hotel for allowing BJ and me to stay there, it was a true honor. I made use of the kitchen by boiling eggs for the street dogs, and big thanks to Santosh for finding a desk for me to place in the window and use all summer! We hope you enjoy this small tour!!
