Bodies continue to mysteriously pile up at river banks across rural India in states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. From the district of Unnao now shocking images have emerged of bodies lying buried in the sand. Local villagers tell Barkha Dutt that at least 15-20 bodies have been buried there over the last fortnight and every day there are at least 2-4 such bodies that fetch up on the shore. No one knows who they are, how they died, or whether these bodies are being abandoned from COVID. The ethical question at the heart of this is now to ask whether India is burying the truth about its COVID dead.
