From Bee Butts to Climate Change: Why Museums Matter | Renée Göthberg | TEDxGöteborg

What can museums tell us about the past and the future? Nature is an endless source of inspiration for us. This goes for even long dead animals, more precisely museum objects. They can be big, like the world’s only taxidermized blue whale, or very small, like the so-called paradox worm. Every single object has a story to tell, not matter the size. Museum exhibitions are full of objects. Thousands of them. But that is still just a small part of the scientific collections. The Gothenburg Natural History Museum has around 10 million objects in their collections. All of them are available for world-wide research, and the objects can inspire us, help us understand our past, and create a better future. So, let’s get curious! Renée Göthberg works as the Program & Exhibition Manager at the Gothenburg Natural History Museum. With a background in cultural studies, pedagogy, and science communication, she always strives to create fun and interesting meeting places for everyone. She loves seeing the Eureka moments, when the ideas materialize, the knowledge settles in, and the world expands. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
