2020 Renault Zoe vs Peugeot e-208

Battle of the electric superminis! The Renault Zoe and Peugeot e-208 are two of the most compelling small electric cars available to buy right now. In the Zoe's favour is a better range and a more comfortable ride, while Peugeot fights back with standard CCS rapid charging, a smarter interior and a more dynamic driving experience. Which will be crowned the winner? Electric car expert Vicky Parrott decides in this CarGurus UK review. Read our in-depth Renault Zoe review: https://www.cargurus.co.uk/Cars/2020-... Pros Long range for a small EV Good to drive Practical cabin Cons Poor Euro NCAP safety rating Not as desirable as some rivals Rapid charging ability costs extra The CarGurus verdict The Renault Zoe is a stalwart of the affordable EV sector, and deservedly so. It remains a competitive and very likeable electric car, and this latest version has added performance and a bigger battery. It still leads the way in terms of range (you’ll have to spend more than £30,000 to get an EV with a greater one) and it’s still good to drive. As all-electric rivals from the likes of Honda and Mini begin to emerge – cars that trade on style and design more than they do more pragmatic considerations – Renault will have to hope there are plenty of buyers out there who value practicality and range over desirability. For those who do, the Zoe is still a good car, although do bear in mind its safety rating. Read our in-depth Peugeot 208 review: https://www.cargurus.co.uk/Cars/2019-... Pros Sharp and stylish looks Comfortable and quiet Impressive battery-electric version Cons Not as much fun as a Ford Fiesta Only scored four out of five in Euro NCAP tests Quite pricey as a new car The CarGurus verdict Buyers wanting a small hatchback have a plethora of options and it can often be difficult to settle on what’s best. However, the looks alone of the 208 are liable to firmly grab your attention – and, fortunately, the rest of the car is similarly impressive and worthy of your time. It isn’t the cheapest supermini around, admittedly, but the premium nets you an upmarket, neatly finished and well-equipped car that’s also a little more mature and refined than some of the alternatives. It’s not as rewarding as a Ford Fiesta but it’s still a decent car to drive, and comfortable, and there is fun to be had in the more powerful models. The option of the all-electric e-208 adds another appealing facet to Peugeot’s compact offering and gives the car another edge against the common alternatives. If budget and warranty are key, though, take a look at a Kia Rio or a Hyundai i20. CarGurus can help you find great deals on used cars from top-rated dealers in your area.
