Having a romantic couple's weekend in a train?! - Red Rattler Retreat

Hello and welcome to another long awaited railway related video. In April 2024 my fabulous human wife and I travelled to Boorhaman Victoria to spend a romantic weekend away at the Red Rattler Retreat. Situated in tranquil farm lands on the banks of the Ovens River the red rattler retreat was an excellent place to unwind especially for a gunzil. The accommodation is located inside of a historic converted tait sliding door suburban motor carriage from 1918. We lived in a train! The carriage was withdrawn from service in 1984 and sat unloved for a bit before being moved to it's new home in Boorhaman. It was fascinating to see how the new owners converted the wagon into a couple's retreat but yet still retained the character and authenticity of the over a century old tait carriage. It was fun to imagine the old timey commuters that once populated the train as it rattled along the recently electrified Melbourne suburban network all those years ago.
