Stump grinding with Power King 14 H.P. grinder. Effective but a full body workout!

Grinding one of my stumps with the Power King model PK0803 with 14 H.P. Kohler Command engine. Has a 12-inch diameter cutting wheel that cuts 3.5-inches wide using 9 teeth. Will cut from 20 in. above ground to 8 in. below ground. Weighs about 300 lbs. It will give you a workout running it. I should have sharpened the carbide teeth before making the vid, they were due. Sharpening is fairly easy once you get the hang of it. With sharp teeth and depending on the type of wood it will generally remove 1/2 inch of material per pass. Brake is on the left wheel only, so you just center the cutting wheel over the stump, set the brake and "wag" the machine from side to side. Paid $1300 for it in 2017 but now in 2022 they are around $1900. A stump grinder similar to this rents for about $200 a day in my area. You will not be able to use this machine a full day unless you have a few guys ready to take turns taking over for you when you drop from exhaustion. Cut the stump as low as you can with a chainsaw first! I have ground over 100 stumps of various sizes over the years. It's also good for grinding those pesky roots that grow above ground that bounce you off your mower seat.
