2000’s CMC 48” Industrial Ceiling Fan | Pre Restoration

Curved blade tip industrial ceiling fans have been one of my most favourite types of ceiling fans for like.. ever. My neighbor had a 56” curved tip CMC waaaay back when I was a child, and the first time I saw it I knew I had to get one someday. Today, after many years of waiting, I finally have a curved tip CMC! I got this 48” mid-late 2000’s example off of Facebook marketplace the week prior to this video’s publishing date. It’s one of the crappier ones that don’t move that much air & is proportionally weird because the blades are a bit too narrow, but I couldn’t care less. The seller was absolutely wholesome, long story short he didn’t tack on the shipping cost to me but instead cut it from the listed price of the fan, which was already very cheap. It’s been awhile since I met a seller that was as great as him, and that I guess adds to my ear to ear smile upon getting this fan. Anyways, this fan arrived with 1 missing canopy and the canopy that’s still on the fan has a huge crack on it. It didn’t come with its original speed controller or any speed controller for that matter, but knowing this generation of CMC ceiling fans’ tendency for its choke based speed controllers to get melty, I don’t take that as an issue. The bearings on this fan are surprisingly very quiet and still have a lot of grease packed in them, which is a bit weird considering the amount of cosmetical damage on the motor shells that points to a rough life. But then again the wear & tear of the fan blades are way less than the motor, so maybe it did actually spent most of its life running on low speeds, or not powered at all. #CMC #CeilingFan
