Hi Everyone! I hope you have been well. Here is a cover to the Stone Temple Theme song (composed by Koji Kondo) in the Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask video game. I remember being mesmerized by this song the first time I heard it, and tried to figure out how to play it on the violin. I wanted to just listen to the music rather than actually figure out the temple puzzle - pressing pause helped me listen while pausing the clock. I actually flipped the music upside down for this one (the music doesn't do that in the game, but the temple flips upside down). I wrote out the notes assuming they were flipped upside down on the staff, but kept the original timing. Doing so pushed the new melody into a different key. I thought the key change was too large of a leap, so I transcribed it to a key similar to the original melody. I think it results in sounding like an upside-down version of the original melody. I'm not sure what others are going to think about it, but I liked it. I think it kind of fits with the vibe of the temple, even though it's not part of the original song. I experimented a bit with a blue screen with this video. I'm not sure how I feel about how it turned out, but it was an experiment. I made a whole take playing the instruments with the ruins upside down, but the blue screen didn't really key out very well with the constant breeze moving the screen. The screen was changing too many different colors of blue with the wind to really make it key out decently... I think I need to bring better lights and clamps next time. I'm not really sure what building this was recorded at. It is located in Black Hawk, Colorado, between Miner St. and Lawrence St., where the town has a market in the summer. I asked the market Facebook Page owner if I could record a video there, and they said it should be fine, but I honestly don't know if they were the person to ask since I could find no other information about this building online. Black Hawk had seen quite a few bad fires, and floods in the past, and since this building is right on the river, I'd guess it's fate likely had something to do with the big flood that happened, but I honestly have no idea. It's a neat looking place, though! I signed up for an online music production course today. I'm super curious how it's going to help me with my music. I feel like I've kind of fallen into a trap of analysis-paralysis when I make music, and I suspect it's because I really don't have a good foundation beyond playing violin. Up until now, I've been winging music production on my own, with an occasional google out of frustration. I've stumbled through figuring out the basics with trial and error, so I'm hoping I can really dial into figuring out how to pull the sounds I have in my head into reality. I usually start off with a really interesting idea in my head, but bringing it into the real world has been a huge struggle.I think a lot of artists can relate to that to some extent. I keep reminding myself that the listener never knew what I was originally thinking, so it kind of doesn't matter that I didn't hit the mark with my original idea, even though it's frustrating. I'm hopeful that having a better grasp of the fundamentals will help me create my ideas more easily. I guess I'll find out! It's a 28 week-long course, but I'm hoping I'll be able to take things as I learn them, and start to apply them immediately. I suppose this is the last video I'll make while being self-taught with all of this music production stuff, so we'll see how it goes! Hopefully my music will improve! Thank you for watching, and I hope you have a good rest of the week! =) ~ Katy ------------ A big "Thank you!" goes to my supporters on Patreon: / katyadelson Music store website: https://www.goldenaspenmusic.com Artist portfolio website: https://www.katyadelson.com Download/stream my "Tune Collection" album: https://fanlink.to/TuneCollection Download/stream my "Ghost Ship" single: https://fanlink.to/GhostShip Hashtags: #zelda #Violin #Fiddle #KatyAdelson #Music Starry Sky Timelapse (Creative Commons) by Free HD Videos Creative Commons: • Starry Sky Timelapse - Creative Commons Software and equipment used: Full list of all my basic violin equipment: http://www.katyadelson.com/about/viol...
