The BLOODY Execution Years Of Henry VIII's Reign

Henry VIII is known for being one of the most bloody and brutal Kings that the world has ever seen. He is most famous for his 6 wives, of which he executed two of them, but during his almost 4 decade long reign on the throne, he executed roughly around 70,000 people. This is a huge amount, and works out to about 3% of the entire population of England during the Tudor period. He executed common criminals, murderers and thieves, but he also ordered the deaths of some of his closest friends and advisors, and even two of his wives. Henry is responsible for the executions of Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard, two of his wives and Queens who met their end losing their head on Tower Green inside the Tower of London. He was also responsible for the death of his former best friend Thomas Cromwell, a mastermind of political spin, and also the execution his former Chief Advisor Sir Thomas More. There were many more executions of high status men and women ordered, including Margaret Poles, which was performed by a blundering axeman chasing the almost 70 year old lady around the grounds of the Tower of London. Henry has gone down in History as being one of the most evil and savage Kings in History, and it is mostly for his executions that we have this opinion of the infamous Tudor monarch.
