The Priesthood ban is still in effect. Imagine if the revelation on the priesthood in 1978 was different. Imagine that it allowed blacks to hold the priesthood only if black people put on whiteface and removed the traces of their blackness and heritage and put forward the appearance of whiteness. Then and only then they could have the priesthood and be baptised and participate in the church in good standing. Would you say that would be something to celebrate? It's happening now - homosexuals in the church are compelled to deny themselves the full expression of their nature and put on straightface and only allow their existence to fit within the small narrow confines of acceptability that the leaders of the church allow before they can enjoy the full blessings of God in the church. The same authority which bore down like a bludgeon upon the souls of black families is being wielded against gay individuals and their families. The very same authority. This doesn't even scratch the surface of what women have been compelled to accept on the weight of that same authority. This is not something to celebrate. This is something to abhor and condemn and stand up and say "no more" to.
