Swami Vivekananda (12 January 1863 – 4 July 1902), born Narendranath Datta was an Indian Hindu monk, philosopher, author, religious teacher, and the chief disciple of the Indian mystic Ramakrishna. He was a key figure in the introduction of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world, and is the father of modern Indian nationalism who is credited with raising interfaith awareness and bringing Hinduism to the status of a major world religion in the late nineteenth century. Swami Shivananda (1854–1934), born Tarak Nath Ghosal, was a Hindu spiritual leader and a direct disciple of Ramakrishna, who became the second president of the Ramakrishna Mission. His devotees refer to him as Mahapurush Maharaj (Great Soul). Shivananda and Subodhananda were the only direct disciples of Ramakrishna to be filmed. He was a Brahmajnani ("knower of Brahman or the Supreme Being"). In this video, the main lesson to take away is this: No matter how far gone one may feel, and no matter how much one may regress into sinful past habits, no one is ever too far gone. God can turn even the greatest sinners into saints. This is seen in the lives of saints from all religions. In modern times, this is seen in the life of Girish Ghosh who once remarked, “There is no sin which I have not committed.” Girish, a drunkard, was turned into a saint by the end of his life by the grace of Sri Ramakrishna. On his death bed he was in a blissful state and at once exclaimed ‘You have come to receive me’ as he saw Sri Ramakrishna, his Master, coming to pick him up. He died thereafter.
