Day 18 of our Summer motorhome tour takes us to the Lagazuoi Mountain Tunnels, 9 miles West of Cortina d'Ampezzo in the Dolomites. We get a lift there from Camping Dolomiti and the bus back but a better option would be to stay the night there in your Motorhome (if you have one). Kit needed: Helmet, Gloves, Torch, hiking footwear. You'll need a reasonable level of fitness as there are a lot of steps. On exiting the tunnels there is some mild exposure for 30 seconds across a ridge but the path is good. If you are not comfortable with heights then we don't recommend the route we took back down but still take the short return trip to Mount Piccolo before descending in the Gondola or 401 the Travenanzas saddle. As with all Mountain activities be super aware of the weather conditions and only attempt this when the top of the Gondola is visible and the forecast is good.
