Unusual because I will use 0,8mm by 0.1mm ribbon wire with 28ga as frame, instead of 0.3 by 0.1 mm as usual. So I will use 3 plies of 0.8 by 0.1mm kanthal ribbon wire framed with 28ga kanthal and wrapped in 40ga Ni. It is equivalent with 8 plies of 0.3 by 0.1mm ribbon wire, framed with 28ga and wrapped in 40 ga having the same resistance, surface area and mass. The classic framed staple coil gives you more flexibility in choosing the resistance by modifying the number of plies used but if you want to change the frame wire you have to use the appropiate ribbon wire. The modified framed staple gives you the possibility to change the frame wire using the same ribbon wire but you do not have the same flexibility in modifying the number of plies. You have to use at least 3 plies to keep the frame in place.
