Coppicing and Pollarding at The Woodland Orchard

Possibly my favourite seasonal job in the orchard, coppicing and pollarding Hazel and Willow. A traditional craft which looks like ecological destruction, but which actually extends the life of the trees. This process also produces material which is very beneficial for humans and wildlife.
