Dr. Ali Shariati Street (formerly Shemiran Old Road and Kourosh Kabir Street) is one of the most important and long streets in Tehran, which has a south-north direction. Before the revolution, this street was called Kourosh Kabir Street. After the revolution, the name of this street was changed to Ali Shariati, an Iranian writer and researcher who gave many lectures in Hosseinieh Ershad located in this street. These alleys are considered to be the oldest communication road of Tehran to Shemiran and Qasran areas and its extension during the Qajar period connected Dar al-Khalafah to Shemiran region in the north of Tehran. The southern beginning of this street, which in the past (until the end of Qajar) was the gate of Shemiran, today is the Shemiran turn in Enghelab Street and extends to Quds Square.
