This is how the 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora brought in a new demographic to Oldsmobile dealerships

The new second generation Oldsmobile Aurora entered production in late 1999, before going on sale in February 2000 as a 2001. There was no 2000 model year Aurora. By this time, Oldsmobile had revamped its entire lineup. Most models that were around for the first generation Aurora were either redesigned by now or dropped completely. There were models that came and left, such as the Malibu-based Cutlass. There were also new additions, such as the Oldsmobile Alero, which shared the strong family resemblance with the new Oldsmobile Aurora and as we mentioned earlier, the Oldsmobile Intrigue sedan—which filled in for the Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. Expanding the engine lineup, the second-generation Oldsmobile Aurora offered a 3.5-liter V-6 cranking out 215 horsepower. This new V-6 was the first ever used in the Oldsmobile Aurora, although it only stuck around for the 2001 and 2002 model years. The engine was the same DOHC V6 that was introduced with the Intrigue. Known as the LX5, it was developed by the Premium engine group at General Motors, therefore it was referred to as the Premium V6, or PV6 for short during its development stage. Being based on the L47 Oldsmobile Aurora V8, which itself is based on the Northstar engine, the developers decided to nickname it the Short North—but it is often referred to as the Shortstar. 2003 was the final model year for the Oldsmobile Aurora. This video will discuss the 2001-2003 Oldsmobile Aurora in detail.
