A recitation of the Qasida Muhammadiyya of Imam Busiri ق recited in the presence of Sayyid Muhammmad al-Alawi ق. There are lines that I couldn’t translate. If you know the translation, it will be much appreciated to leave it in comments and I will edit accordingly with full credit. ۞ Al-Sayyid Muhammad bin Abbas al-Alawi al-Maliki al-Hasani was one of the foremost traditional Islamic scholars of contemporary times, and without doubt, the most highly respected and loved scholar of the holy city of Mecca and the entire Hijaz region. He was born in 1946 in Makkah al-Mukkaramah. His father, Sayyid Abbas al-Alawi taught him Islamic sciences at a young age. Sayyid Muhammad also studied with other Scholars of Makkah. At the age of 15, he gave lessons to his other students by the Order of his teachers. At the age of 25, Sayyid Muhammad became the first and youngest Saudi national to earn a PHD at the al-Azhar university in Cairo. The Sayyid traveled extensively in North Africa, Egypt, Sudan, Syria, Turkey, and the Indo-Pak subcontinent to learn from great scholars, meet the Friends of Allah, visit the Mosques and Shrines, and collect manuscripts and books. After returning from Egypt, he was given a position as a teacher at the Umm al-Qura university in 1970. In 1971, he became a teacher in the Haram after his father’s passing. He would sometimes give lessons in the Haram of Madinah. However, in the early 80’s, he was removed in both posts by fanatical Salafi Muftis, giving false fatwas to remove him. After his removal, he gave lessons in his home and in the mosque that was on his street. He was well respected by the King and was often consulted by the Government in important affairs despite the Salafi opposition. Sayyid Muhammad passed away on Friday 15th Ramadan 1426 AH (29th October 2004) and was buried in the al-Ma’ala cemetery in Makkah. May Allah ﷻ have mercy on him and raise his rank.
