AIN'T NO MOUNTAIN HIGH ENOUGH -- The Fabulous Flares Band @ Carolina R&B Reunion Show!

In Loving Memory of Ron Ownbey, Judy Allen Miles, Jim Monroe, Scottie Thomas and John Alexander. We miss each of you. Band reunion show. This song, AIN'T NO MOUNTAIN HIGH ENOUGH, features the 2nd phase of the reunited Fabulous Flares with guest lead singers Judy Allen Miles and Ron Ledbetter. This reconfiguration of the group with male and female vocalists occurred in the summer of 1968 after a number of original band members went off to college. The sound of the reorganized band was heavily influenced by groups such as Blood, Sweat and Tears and The Chicago Transit Authority (Chicago). The Flares/Fabulous Flares were at times also called The Flares Revue and performed extensively across the Southeast U.S. in the later 1960s and early 1970s. Phase II of The Flares was a frequently featured popular band at The Embers Club and The World Famous Cellar venues in North Carolina. Reunion band members for this song included: *Brom Sargent, bass; *Pat Walters, guitar; *Scottie Thomas, drums; Bryant Bolin, keyboard; *Jim Monroe and Doug Burns, trumpet; Tyrone Jefferson, trombone; John Alexander, alto sax; Eddie Blair, tenor sax & *Ed Crotts, baritone sax. Five former bands that were widely popular in the Southeast U.S. during the 1960s and '70s participated in this memorable show. Performing bands included The Original Spontanes, The Counts, Image, The Fabulous Flares/Flares II and Gaston. A number of the reunion musicians had not performed together in over 40 years.
