John Waite - Encircled (Guitar Cover)

The Song: "Encircled" is a song written by John Waite, J McMurry, and J Regan from John Waite’s fourth studio album, released in 1987 “Rover’s Return”. The guitars on Encircled were done by John McCurry, minimalist and that super 80’s studio produced sound. I love it when guitarist do not solo over the entire track and have something tasteful to add to a song, great playing by John on the whole album. ‘Encircled” is written in the key of E and revolves around an almost “Every Breath You Take” staccato Police type lick in E. Again, if you look at my video’s you can tell what a huge fan of the Baby’s and John Waite I am. Just another in a long list of wonderful songs by an amazing songwriter and talent. Video: The process of final product you are seeing is as follows: I import the original track from iTunes into PreSonus Studio One, tempo map it in PreSonus Studio One, and record all the guitar part as close as I can get them to the original track. I then buss the guitars to an effects track where I use a send for reverb. On the master I have a limiter, compression and EQ and I usually master in the same workspace. All the guitars are recorded through a Fractal Audio AXE FX III, I generally use Fractal presets and tweak them a bit, and then I record the video on my iPhone (with the lesser quality audio), import the video onto my desktop where I use DaVinci Resolve to edit the video and replace the iPhone audio with the studio quality audio from PreSonus Studio One. The Equipment: I recorded this track using a stock 2003 Jackson SL-1 USA Soloist, in Black. I play the all guitars on this track directly into a Fractal Audio FXIII and then directly into my DAW (PreSonus Studio One).
