STOKESAY CASTLE: One of the best preserved fortified Medieval manor houses in England In the picturesque Shropshire hills lies the 13th century fortified manor of Stokesay Castle. With it’s beautiful gatehouse and well preserved towers and main hall it is a great look into what life was like back at the time. While on site you can take advantage of the free audio tour which goes into each room with great detail. You can also freely walk around the great halls, climb the towers and get some fantastic views from the top. There is also a little walled garden and dry moat walk to enjoy before visiting the neighboring church. Access from the main car park to the courtyard is fairly good for all mobility types. However the old hall has a fair few steps and staircases. Many of which are narrow and uneven due to age. So be very careful when visiting.
