It operates as train number 19223 from Ahmedabad Junction to Jammu Tawi and as train number 19224 in the reverse direction. 19223/19224 Ahmedabad–Jammu Tawi Express presently has 1 AC 2 tier, 4 AC 3 tier, 10 Sleeper class and 6 General Unreserved coaches. 19223 Ahmedabad–Jammu Tawi Express covers the distance of 1476 kilometres in 32 hours 15 mins (45.77 km/h) and in 31 hours 20 mins (47.11 km/h) as 19223/19224 Jammu Tawi–Ahmedabad Express. It reverses direction twice during its journey at Firozpur Cantonment and Pathankot Junction. It is hauled by a WDP-4D locomotive of Ludhiana shed from JAT till FZR. From FZR till JU it is hauled by a BGKT shed-based WDP-4D locomotive and BRC WAP-5 / WAP-7 / WAP-4 From Jodhpur to Ahmedabad. 19223/19224 Ahmedabad–Jammu Tawi Express runs from Ahmedabad Junction via Palanpur Junction, Abu Road, Marwar Junction, Jodhpur Junction, Merta Road Junction, Nagaur, Bikaner Junction, Suratgarh Junction, Hanumangarh Junction, Mandi Dabwali, Bathinda Junction, Firozpur Cantonment, Sultanpur Lodhi, Kapurthala, Jalandhar City, Pathankot to Jammu Tawi. 19223 Ahmedabad–Jammu Tawi Express leaves Ahmedabad Junction daily and reaches Jammu Tawi the next day. 19224 Jammu Tawi–Ahmedabad Express leaves Jammu Tawi daily and reaches Ahmedabad Junction the next day. Ahmedabad Junction railway station (station code: ADI) is the main railway station of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. It is also the biggest railway station within Gujarat and also one of the major railway station in India. It is the highest income-generating division in Western Railways. It connects to Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Howrah and other major cities of India. Vatva's Diesel Loco Shed holds over 100 ALCO locomotives, including the WDG-3A, WDM-3A, WDM-3D, WDS-6, WAP-4 and WAG-5 while Sabarmati's Diesel Loco Shed holds over 200 EMD locomotives, including the WDP 4D, WDG 4, WDG 4D, and WDG-5. Jammu Tawi (station code: JAT) is a railway station in Jammu city in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu Tawi is the largest railway station in Jammu and Kashmir. It is a major railhead for other places in the region and for tourists heading towards the Kashmir Valley. The Jammu–Baramulla line begins here. Administratively, it is in the Firozpur division of Northern Railways. Jammu Tawi is well connected to major Indian cities by trains. The station code is JAT. The third longest running train in India, in terms of time and distance, the Himsagar Express that goes to Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu in 70 hours, used to originate from here. Now it originates from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra railway station. Most premium express train of India, Vande Bharat Express, makes a stop here. There existed an old station in the city, on the Jammu–Sialkot Line, which had train services to Sialkot Junction, now in Pakistan, 43 km (27 mi) away. The station also linked with Wazirabad and Narowal stations, both of which are in Pakistan today. The old Jammu station was built in around 1897 but was abandoned after the Partition of India as the railway link to Sialkot was broken. Jammu had no rail services until 1971, when the Indian Railways laid the Pathankot–Jammu Tawi broad-gauge line. The new Jammu Tawi station was opened in 1975. In 2000, much of the old railway station was demolished to make way for an art centre. Previously the station used to be managed by the post of DTM which is now also named as Station Director. The present Station Director (SD) is Sh. Uchit Singhal (an IRTS officer of 2014 batch). The Jammu station is also planned to be remodelled and redesigned under Station re-development plan expected to complete by 2024.
