Uruli, is commonly used for cooking, serving food, and also for small scale cooking like preparing side both vegetarian/non-vegetarian dishes and sweets like payasam. Uruli is made from special bronze which consists of copper,tin,zinc in a particular ratio.This helps in making the food cooked in the uruli both healthy and tatsy. Uruli has very high heat holding capacity which enables the saving of fuel to a greater extend. Uruli is made by the traditional method (Lost wax Method not the die-cast method) which has been followed since the early history of the vessel industry. It involves the pouring of molten metal in between two layers of a clay mould, from which wax is drawn out before the molten metal flows in and sets.Hence urulis of different size,wall thickness and structure can be made according to the requirement of a customer.For eg: high wall thickness is required for urulis used for preparation of ayurvedic medicines,halwa etc..
