Unboxing the Fairphone 3, including a full hands-on review of the specs, camera tech, performance and that modular design. This sustainable smartphone sequel can be grabbed for €450 from the manufacturer, or picked up on contract on Vodafone from £37 a month here in the UK. Sure, it doesn't boast the most impressive specs around, but like previous mobiles the Fairphone 3 is all about making a minimal impact on the environment. That translucent body is made from recycled materials and can be completely taken apart and individual components replaced - including the battery. However, the single-lens rear camera is quite the oddity as we head into 2020 and so far seems basic at best, which is a shame given the mid-range asking price. The Fairphone 3 also uses the basic Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 platform, as found in the considerably less expensive Motorola Moto G7 and G7 Power. You'll get respectable everyday performance, but don’t expect to get a smooth gaming experience. Rounding off the features is the old Android 9 OS, although it's a beautifully stock version with zero tampering. Stay tuned for my full review of this sustainable smartphone, coming early 2020!
