Flying in the Balkans, we pretty much destroyed enemy air power within a few hours of the first day. Accordingly we were able to roam deep inside the enemy airspace, although it is heavily defended by SAMs. This is the end of a hour and a half patrol to find and destroy a suspected SA-10. During the patrol we were ambushed by an SA-6 and killed it, and also destroyed an enemy EWR site. We were just about to RTB, defeated, unable to find the SA-10 - when it popped up about 60 miles away on the HAD. We went NOE, rolled up on it and this happened. It was apparently guarding a chemical weapons plant, which we later learned in the debrief was completely destroyed, along with the SA-10 battalion, with my two CBUs on the first pass. No more ethnic cleansing! This is the worst possible terrain for fighting an SA-10 - with no ability to evade or terrain mask.
